It’s almost Halloween and although we don’t celebrate it here, we still want to join the festivity online. While it’s true that Halloween is often associated with something scary, there is also something sweet about it (you know what I’m talking about :d). Continue reading “Monster Muffler”

Paper Plate Stitching

Eating too much instant noodles makes me forget that various types of noodles do exist. When the theme “noodles” was decided, all I could think of is that delicious yellow block. Maybe it’s the braid shape or maybe it’s the love for the seasoning packet that I decided to do this “noodle stitching” on a paper plate (I wanted to use real noodles but then again, I don’t want to waste good noodles). Easy Lazy Susan

My baker sister wanted a lazy susan for her icing work and I wanted to make one for her, but sadly, I couldn’t find any store selling the rotating hardware. So here goes my attempt making one, using basic stuff, from scratch. It’s still in a very raw prototype condition as I haven’t had it tested (will update again!). Basically, we will need to make a plate, the rotating leg and a base. And for that, we will need cardboard, foils and the roll, cling wrap and your choice of base (something heavy is good, like old unused dictionary). Continue reading “Easy Lazy Susan”

This week’s theme on the brainy cube has given me the chance to practice my sewing again. We had been thinking of creating a “nap space” in our working room and thought something that doesn’t take much space is preferable. So after a quick search for inspiration, I thought making a soft collapsible Rubik’s cube will work for us. It can be laid as sleeping mattress to sleep on or be treated as floor cushions. Squishy Stress Ball

When the theme “doki-doki” was announced, I didn’t have the slightest bloody idea of what I wanted to make (just in case you are not familiar with the term, it’s a Japanese mimetic word for “pounding heart”). As cliché as it can be, I was about to jump right into the “heart-shape everything craft” wagon if I couldn’t come up with anything by the deadline. Then out of the blue, I remembered my mom was looking for a squishy ball for her fingers therapy and yeap, I accidentally found the connecting dots between a squishy stress ball and a relief to the irregular heart-pounding caused by nervousness or anxiety. Let’s get started!

Paper Cup Kaleidoscope

This is the last part for the “mirror” series. You can check out the first two parts here (for something delicious) and here (for drawing inspiration).

Ini bagian terakhir untuk seri “mirror”. Anda dapat melihat 2 postingan lainnya di sini (untuk resep) dan sini (untuk ilustrasi).

Paper cup is becoming one of the best materials I like to craft with. After the universal ruler holder, today I’m sharing how to turn your beverage paper cup into a kaleidoscope. This is purely an experimental craft as I was just curious to try out using compact discs as reflectors instead of the conventional mirror for a kaleidoscope. Let’s go! Ice Bar Signboard

I don’t know if this is considered as cheating because in a glance, you may not be able to tell where the ‘ice cream’ theme comes in. Well, it’s actually a signboard that takes the shape of an upside down ice cream bar (I know, it looks more like a chopping board or a pizza pan). Anyway, I cheated my way down and made this sign to hang on our wall. Continue reading “Ice Bar Signboard”
